First, a million thanks
to the thousands of resale, consignment, and thrift shopkeepers who have remained loyal to Too Good to be Threw while Sharing, everyone’s favorite discussion board, has been enceinte.
Next., welcome to all our newest fans who’ve discovered us because we have been forced to use Facebook and Twitter to get the word out… and to those who have just signed up to receive TGtbT’s no-cost e-newsletter, Used ain’t seen nothin’ yet… because they will get the “birth announcement” first.
And thanks to
the loyal supporters of TGtbT who have helped me test the new format for our forum, and for their time and devotion to getting YOU, their industry peers, the best Sharing they could. Every one of them is a Sponsor at HowToConsign.com, which says a lot about their care and concern for their peers.
Now, keep learning and profiting while you wait:
- Do you know how to post some basic signs in Spanish? TGtbT.com tells you!
- Before you clearance all your summer goods: are you thinking 3 months down the road, to the season when you can actually convert some OMG it’s USED! types? TGtbT inspires you!
- As fall items come pouring in, could you use a review of the keys to effective acceptance? TGtbT to the rescue!
- You didn’t miss the “seasonal” blog about the NARTS Conference, did you?
Here’s an example of sharing even without Sharing:
Little Green Beans, a Sponsor of HowToConsign.com, pointed us in the direction of Talkbin, which might be useful. Thanks to you too! Here’s the video explanation of what Talkbin could do for your shop.
Now for the exciting announcement:
Sharing will be back online any day now! We’ll announce it first in our e-newsletter, so make sure you’re subscribed, add us to your “trusted sender” list, and open the good news when it comes (how come we can’t stuff e-mail with a handful of confetti, the way we can REAL mail? Ah, a rant for another day…)
The new Sharing is WAY COOL. Choose the way it looks, whether to be notified by email when answers come in, use the Resale Calendar to make sure you’re not missing something important (including special savings at TGtbT!) and more.
Users of the old Sharing will especially appreciate:
- you can modify or even delete your own messages,
- use colors and font sizes to emphasize your opinions, and
- view JUST the messages since yesterday (time-saver extraordinaire!)
- And I have even taken care to protect you from “nosey” customers in your town: no where will your shop name or email be visible to ANYone (well, except me. And I take bribes. Of chocolate and Hadleyware.)
I’m even considering a section where we can store helpful links and a private, permission-granted area for Sponsors of HowToConsign.com full of advanced resaler tips not for the timid of heart.
UPDATE: Sharing, the free and open-to-all discussion board provided by TGtbT.com for over 10 years, will not be returning in the foreseeable future. Costs have risen to prohibitive levels, and no sponsors have been forthcoming. Hopefully, shopkeepers will participate here on the blog and be able to share through this site. Many thanks to those who participated in Sharing over the years, and I’ll see you here on AuntieKate the blog!

Question for other shop owners…are there any other discussion boards or forums on other sties that you actively particpate in? I would like to find an alternative. Thanks.
This sounds great Kate!! Thank you for all your hard work for the resale industry–we certainly do appreciate it!
