To all my consignment, resale, and thrift store buddies from Too Good to be Threw, The Premiere Site for Resale Professionals, a mini-series:
4 Days to Resale Success Series
right here on Auntie Kate The Blog, starting right now.
But first, a quick overview of the 4 Daily Lessons.
It’s a quiz. Cute but, of course, meaningful. So think about what you’ll answer before you scroll down.
1. How do you put a giraffe into a refrigerator?
Remember, stop and think about it and decide on your answer before you scroll down.
.
.
.
.
.
.
The correct answer is: Open the refrigerator, put in the giraffe, and close the door.
This question tests whether you tend to do simple things in an overly complicated way or if you tend to overthink.
Question 2 How do you put an elephant into a refrigerator?
.
.
.
.
.
.
Did you say, Open the refrigerator, put in the elephant, and close the refrigerator?
Wrong Answer.
Correct Answer: Open the refrigerator, take out the giraffe, put in the elephant and close the door. This tests your ability to think through the repercussions of your previous actions.
Here comes Question 3. The Lion King is hosting an animal conference. All the animals attend, except one. Which animal does not attend?
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Correct Answer : The Elephant. The elephant is in the refrigerator. Didn’t you just put him in there?
This tests whether you collect all available information before you answer or act.
Okay, even if you did not answer the first three questions correctly, you still have one more chance to show your true abilities.
Last question, I promise. 4. There is a river you must cross but it is used by crocodiles, and you
do not have a boat. How do you manage it?
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Correct Answer: You jump into the river and swim across. Have you not been listening? All the crocodiles are attending the Animal Meeting.
This tests whether you learn quickly from your mistakes.
Okay, enough fun for now. The 4 questions illustrate 4 problem-solving steps that we’ll talk more about, to help you look at challenges from a new perspective:
* First up, tomorrow, Thursday: Consider simple answers before looking for complicated ones.
* On Friday we will examine the ways you can think about the consequences of your actions
* Saturday, we’ll learn to use all available information
* And on Sunday, we’ll look at how to focus on the big picture, not just a small part of it
So there you have it, folks. Check back over the next 4 days for The 4 Days to Resale Success!

Kate,
Thank you SO much for offering this. I really wanted to attend the conference this year but due to my changing family situation I could not. What a blessing this is
You are wonderful
Patricia
Thanks Kate, this is a great idea! Especially for those of us ‘homebound’ this year.
Considering how I did on the above intelligence test, I really need a lot of help! :-)
You’re an amazing woman Kate to be doing this while you are dealing with a serious family illness. But, for all of us who can’t make it to conference this year you’re making lemonade out of lemons for us. Thank you so much!
Sooooo, excited about checking in each day!
Ok, so here were my answers, prior to reading the correct ones:
1) Open door
2) Open door, but then what
3) His Dad
4) So, is it really a problem that there are crocodiles in the water.
So obviously from my answers, I need serious help!
Thought you may want to laugh and roll your eyes!
Hey Tanya…
Your answer to #3 is BRILLIANT. I can’t wait to see what I make of it on Day 3… ;-) (let’s see, I have until Saturday to come up with it…)
I am so EXCITED! I cannot wait! Thank you Kate! :)
Thanks Kate, This sounds really fun. I loved the questions. I even got one right but this wasn’t one of them…
For the first question I was trying to figure out how in the world a giraffe would fit into a refrigerator so I was picturing removing all the shelves and how to bend his legs and neck to stuff him in there but then I decided it must be a trick question so I had to scroll down and cheat.
I can’t wait to hear more.
Just arrived after a long day.. whew! WoW! Glad you liked the answer to number 3.
Wish I could bottle up brilliance ….
Can’t wait to read, what you wrote today about not overthinking things.
Have a great evening.
